Click for Great Justice - Introducing AdSense

You may have noticed that I have implemented Google AdSense targeted ads on this site. I think this will be a good way to earn a little revenue towards group activities (pizza, room rentals, etc.). I chatted with everyone at the meetup last night, and there were no objections, so I've gone ahead and put them up.

I've tried to make them blend in with the site as well as I can. In my opinion, AdSense targeted ads add value - they're almost like extra content. There are also ads in the site feed. I've been running AdSense on TinyScreenfuls.com for a while now, and I've been pleased with the results. It's not making car payments or anything, but it at least covers hosting costs.

All ads on PortlandPodcasting.org are in a seperate "channel" from my other ads, and all revenue will go toward group activities and costs. I'm not looking to make any money from this. The group will decide how to spend any money that comes in.

So, whenever you come visit the site, or read the feed in your aggregator, click on the ads. It's the clicks that count, and depending on the ad, each click earns a non-trivial amount.

Just think - if this really takes off, we could plan a Portland Podcasting Carribean Cruise! OK, maybe not, but you get the idea...
